Useful, safe, specific
The Useful Web reviews submissions before approval. These guidelines define what is likely to be accepted, rejected, edited, or removed.
Accepted
- - Websites that solve a clear, practical problem.
- - Tools, references, calculators, generators, search utilities, learning resources, and public-interest resources.
- - Submissions with accurate titles, URLs, descriptions, and categories.
- - Sites that are safe to visit and do not require misleading downloads or deceptive signups.
Prohibited
- - Spam, malware, phishing, deceptive downloads, or impersonation.
- - Adult, escort, gambling, betting, piracy, illegal drug, or exploitative financial content.
- - Misleading descriptions, fake claims, scraped listings, or submissions made without authorization.
- - Sites that primarily collect personal data without a clear user benefit.
- - Paid placements that are not disclosed as sponsored.
Review criteria
- - Practical usefulness.
- - Clarity of the submitted description.
- - Safety and trust signals.
- - Whether the site duplicates an existing listing.
- - Whether the listing fits the editorial direction of the directory.
Editorial rights
The Useful Web may edit titles, descriptions, categories, screenshots, tags, and ranking. Approved listings may later be removed if the site changes, becomes unsafe, violates these guidelines, or no longer fits the directory.
